Deacon Christopher Major Bio:
Deacon Christopher Major is a Catholic deacon who serves at St. Isabella Parish in San Rafael, California. He was ordained in May 2022 by Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of the Archdiocese of San Francisco. He is also the former coordinator for African-American ethnic ministry in the Archdiocese.
Deacon Major has a background in education and business. He holds a Clear Level II Education Specialist credential from the University of San Francisco and an undergraduate degree in economics and business administration from St. Mary’s College of California. He taught special education for 18 years after working in insurance risk management for 13 years. He currently owns and operates Novato Chess Club.
Deacon Major is passionate about marriage preparation, RCIA, and the Knights of Columbus. He is also the coordinator of the Saint Isabella Parish School of Religion and Saint Isabella Parish community chess program.
